When she was a child she was already keen on painting. One of her first oil paintings is preserved. She painted it when she was nine. It is a sketch of some women sewing in the street. In 1926 she moved on to Madrid by means of a grant to study at the Fine Arts School. In 1932, she took her degree in painting. She took part in National Exhibitions in 1934, 1941 and 1964 but she only celebrated five individual exhibitions: Madrid (1945 and 1958), Vigo (1951), Paris (1953) and Guatemala (1955).

 Work & Activities

In 1934, she got a bronze medal in the National Exhibition with her painting Jesús con Marta y María, which is kept in a museum in Valencia. With her painting A escola de Doloriñas she got the gold medal at the National Exhibition in 1941. Then she would paint A miña familia (1944), Xuventude (1948), O sono da pintora (1960) and Agonía (1964), which was also given a prize at the National Exhibition. Although Julia Minguillón hardly used a relogious theme in her paintings ( A Anunciación, A Virxe do Arie, A Madalena) it appeared at the Exhibitions in 1934 with Jesús en Betana and in 1964 with Agonía. Apart from all these paintings she also painted landscapes, portraits, flowers, the gipsy world, still life and so on.
