He took a degree in Veterinary Medicine and specialised in Bromatology, Health and Food Technology at the University of Leon. He also graduated in Health at the National Health School in Madrid. He is a civil servant of the Veterinary Corps.

In 2009 he was nominated as ‘conselleiro’ responsible for Rural Medium in the Xunta de Galicia.
